Tori Spelling Accused of Getting Fillers, Ozempic Body Amidst Family Financial Woes

Even though Tori Spelling has had a miserable 2023, she’s still pushing forward.

We don’t just mean with life and family, but also with work. Specifically, she and other Beverly Hills, 90210 alums have been showcasing themselves to nostalgic fans at ’90s Con.

Obviously, this public appearance means photos and videos.

But fans are noticing that Tori looks … different. Some think that she had fresh work done on her face. But does she really have the budget for that?

Over the weekend, Tori Spelling ventured where many dare not to tread: Tampa, Florida.

This is where ’90s Con went down.

Tori and other alums of Beverly Hills, 90210 including Brian Austin Green met up with fans as the convention.

“OMG what happened to her!” exclaimed one commenter.

“Time to cool off on the fillers hun,” another suggested, adding that Tori looks “pretty without all that.”

An even more blunt follower demanded: “Please stop ruining your beautiful face with all the fillers!!”

Obviously, some of that was a bit hostile towards Tori. Especially considering that it’s coming from her “fans.”

Others at least sounded less angry and more like they felt concerned for her well-being.

Some expressed anxieties over her self-esteem. And then there were commenters who worried about her physical health.

“Ozempic face and tummy tuck stomach,” accused one commenter.

“What did she do to herself?” mused another.

And one Instagram follower quipped: “Somebody needs a few hamburgers and less plastic surgery. Oh geez. Not going to say who but it’s not a good look.”

First of all, let’s emphasize that we’re simply not here for the body-shaming.

Someone can be skinny or fat or anywhere in between. That’s not our business, and there’s no moral value to it. People just have bodies. So what?

A lot of people say “what matters is if you’re healthy.” Sure? But that’s also not anyone’s business. Tori doesn’t owe her fan’s health, even if we all hope that she’s doing well.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, August 20, Tori Spelling revealed that she had spent the past several days in the hospital. She did not divulge why. (Instagram)

(At the very least, she’s doing better than she was a few weeks ago)

For the record, Tori has — as recently as just a couple of years ago — adamantly denied undergoing such procedures.

One example is that many people think that she has undergone a nose job. Not so, Tori has claimed. According to her, it’s the masterful contouring work of her makeup artist.

A lot of people also seemed to bristle at the idea that Tori was spending money on (alleged) cosmetics like fillers when her family is in such a dire financial situation.

Honestly? We have no idea what the specifics of her situation might be. Considering her mom’s finances and other factors, it’s not like Tori’s starving her kids to inflate her lips.

If she did get fillers or similar work done, she may have considered it to be a work expense ahead of the convention. The entertainment industry runs on different rules than most lines of work.

bitchy | Rupert Murdoch, 92, is retiring from the Fox & News Corp boards

Rupert Murdoch has had a shockingly busy year, given the fact that he’s 92 years old. In March, he got engaged to a shady grifter who was too churchy for his taste, so he ended the engagement after six weeks. He was last seen sailing off into the sunset with a new Russian girlfriend in August. Back in April, Fox News also settled out of court with Dominion Voting Systems – the News Corp payout was $787 million, all because their anchors spread Donald Trump’s election lies in 2020. So, yeah… a busy year. Apparently, Rupert has seen enough and he’s now stepping down from the Fox and News Corp boards.

Rupert Murdoch is retiring from the Fox and News Corporation boards, the company is set to announce Thursday morning, making his son Lachlan the sole executive in charge of the global media empire he built from a small local newspaper concern in Australia starting 70 years ago.

The elder Mr. Murdoch will become chairman emeritus of the two companies, the company said in a release.

Mr. Murdoch, 92, had shown no intention to step down or even slow down — even after he named Lachlan as the heir to his business empire in 2019, when he sold his vast entertainment holdings to the Walt Disney Company.

Even now, in his emeritus status, he will continue to offer counsel, Lachlan Murdoch said in a statement.

“We thank him for his vision, his pioneering spirit, his steadfast determination, and the enduring legacy he leaves to the companies he founded and countless people he has impacted.,” Lachlan Murdoch, 52, said in a release the company put out Thursday morning.

[From The NY Times]

Sounds like Rupert will still be involved, just not to the degree he once was. This isn’t a full retirement, that’s all I’m saying. It looks like Lachlan was his dad’s bestest boy. James Murdoch broke away from his father’s empire and is now on the outside looking in (with billions of dollars). James and Prince Harry are also in touch, which Harry revealed in his lawsuit against News Group Newspapers (Murdoch’s British media arm). Anyway, I can practically hear the “Succession” theme song playing as I write. We’ll see how this all pans out, because I guarantee that Rupert will still be intimately involved in A LOT.

bitchy | Celebrities sign letter condemning draconian book bans

I’ve been (woefully) aware of the rampant book bans being pushed by conservatives, but up until now I’ve been (blissfully) ignorant of the actual numbers. This week the American Library Association released data that 1,915 book titles were challenged or censored in 2023 through August, making it a 20% increase from last year. It’s become so pernicious that Biden has created a new position in the Dept of Education to address the bans. And in a bit of brilliance, in June Illinois became the first state to ban book bans. This is where we are, folks. While right-wing politicians are desperate to bring us back to Pleasantville, artists are fighting back to keep us in color. An open letter condemning the spate of book bans sweeping the nation has now garnered almost 200 signatures from celebrities in creative arts:

Who: Nearly 200 top actors, musicians and authors denounced the recent wave of right-wing book bans in an open letter Tuesday. Ariana Grande, Guillermo del Toro and Gabrielle Union were among 195 entertainers and writers to sign their names to the letter, part of an effort spearheaded by former “Reading Rainbow” host LeVar Burton and the liberal advocacy group MoveOn. … The effort reportedly started collecting signatures this summer and includes names like Mark Ruffalo, Billy Porter, Chelsea Handler, John Leguizamo, Constance Wu, Christie Brinkley, Idina Menzel, Andy Cohen, Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts and Sharon Stone.

What: The letter argues that this “restrictive behavior” is both “antithetical to free speech and expression” and “has a chilling effect on the creative field.” It further says the government has no right to “dictate” what people can create or consume. “We cannot stress enough how these censorious efforts will not end with book bans,” the letter reads. “It’s only a matter of time before regressive, suppressive ideologues will shift their focus toward other forms of art and entertainment. … We refuse to remain silent as one creative field is subjected to oppressive bans,” the letter said. “As artists, we must band together, because a threat to one form of art is a threat to us all. … There is power in artistic freedom, and we refuse to allow draconian politicians to take that from us.”

Bad politicians: While the letter itself doesn’t name specific politicians, the website that introduces it goes even further: “Far-right politicians like Ron DeSantis are championing draconian laws to ban books and the teaching of accurate multicultural American history in favor of upholding a homophobic, transphobic, and white supremacist vision of our nation.” … The ideologues include Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R), who championed a new law forbidding instruction on gender or sexual orientation, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) — who approved course materials that teach enslaved Black people gained a “personal benefit” from slavery.

Bad statistics: The American Library Association reported in March that bans and restrictions at schools and libraries are continuing to surge, with more than 1,200 challenges in 2022, nearly double the prior record of 729 in 2021. Another institution found even more than that. Nonprofit research organization PEN America — which counts more than 7,500 novelists, journalists and other literary professionals as members — reportedly identified more than 4,000 book challenges and bans in school districts since June 2021.

LeVar Burton gets the last word: “It’s embarrassing that we are banning books in this country, in this culture, in this day and age,” Burton told The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday. “And it’s dangerous that a handful of individuals are deciding that any book with Black and queer people is divisive.”

[From HuffPost]

This is horrifying. I went to a Jewish day school growing up, so I know I had more lessons on and exposure to the Holocaust than in typical elementary curriculums. The links are chilling to me. Banning books is where it starts, because the less you know the easier you are to control. It’s perhaps a lowbrow reference, but I have Sean Connery’s voice stuck in my head from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, when he says to the Nazis “goose-stepping morons like yourself should try reading books instead of burning them!” I nominate ‘goose-stepper’ as DeSantis’s next nickname. Vote them OUT.
